Frayer Youcan, check out the manual or some YT video, I did it but I cant remember which button is for OK (I am not with the unit now). The main problem with that controller is that buttons stop working after some time ;) so I bought that simple replacement one which has only turning knob. That is enough and always works.
Q: Can it be used to prepare a hot water in camper (in conjunction with some boiler of course)?

Q: How deep is it? Can a wood box be make to screw it into? Are the + and - at the back the output?

Frayer Few centimeters. If you put in a sub box, you will have to seal it behind somehow, because air (and sound) is leaking around the connectors and buttons, if you know what I mean. I have put a thick layer of silicone over them to make it air tight in the sub cabinet.

Frayer Very unlikely. By the time 20A fuse will blown off you will get deaf too ;) So no worries, you can use it.

Frayer It can be, why not. You will need some 12V DC power supply with at least 10A output.
