OutlawDave76 not at all, I upgraded recently to a 150 amp brushless marine watercooler esc, an installed a bigger motor, I made a few adjustments with weight distribution inside the boat, to keep it from running to dry. I'm running speeds that would shock most, I had a prop specialize just for my set up an on just 4s imhitting 63mph, on 6a, its starts to dance just starts bouncing to point I can't open it up all the way, fastest run to date, 86mph, 8s an still had a quarter of throttle left,definitely a beast
Q: is this compatible with the Xinlehong Q901 brushless stock motor?

OutlawDave76 yes you can use this on the q901, you will need another receiver an controller, also ya can buy adaptors for ya wires amazon has them I bought some to 4mm to 3.5mm an just so ya know I have a 60 amp esc on my q901 an a 45amp esc on my Q903,
