spokekiller Me again. So I have found out that the product is not defective. I got them to work under WinXP (my only Windows I still have). Apparently, while modern Linux kernels do have support for CH341 (note the 1!), they have problems with more modern versions of said Chip. So, even though your kernel recognises the chip, communication will fail due to changes in the chip. spokekiller Are you sure it's aluminium? Couldn't it just be tinned copper strands?Also, would you mind checking if it's magnetic? I've seen reports of bad chinese wires being ferrous metals instead of copper. You could post an update here. Appreciate your efforts. Thanks!

spokekiller I assume you mean the regulator, not the capacitor. The capacitro should not get "hot".
