felix I have several of these and I get clear audio from all of them. Maybe its a problem on the receiving side?

Q: The transmitter runs very hot, too hot to touch after 30 minutes. Is this normal?

felix You can glue it directly to the carbon frame of a quadcopter ot to a additional heatsink with heat conducting double sided tape.

Q: Should I remove the plastic covering before use?

felix You can remove it without problems. To install a additional heatsink you can just cut around the black part and use heat transfering double sidet tape.
