This flashlight was working fine. Turned it off and set it down. Picked it up to use again and flashlight was hot and would not turn on. Removed switch cap and pulled out battery and found that the spring contact had moved and shorted out. Fortunately I use short protected battery. See photos. The spring you see in photo is supposed to be soldered to the back of the LED cell. You can see in photo where the spring got hot enough to start melting into the positive end of the battery. The last photo is looking into the battery compartment, you can see where the spring used to be soldered on. The battery still works and charges fine even after it shut the flashlight off because of its built in short protection.
