The power supply is working well. Make sure to plug it in the right way round / on the right side on the breadboard, or else the + and - on it don't correspond to the actual polarity, which is not all that bad, but can be a bit confusing. The USB port is an output really, but that was to be expected, of course. The switch is to switch the power supply on / off. Using a 12V adapter to power it now, but it would be better to use a lower voltage one, because the voltage regulators on the PCB would stay cooler. But where to find one...? Expecting a 5V power supply with a trim pot on it any time, so maybe that one can be cranked up to 6.5V.
