The solar panel is not sealed underneath at all. I had 2 of them fall off. Water will get inside. If there is not enough sunlight, the battery will be exhausted before sunrise and the unit will "forget" its setting like on or what type of function. I have to go outside and turn some of them on and reset the function at night. It is however the middle of winter and stormy so not much sunlight right now. The good news is that they use an 18650 battery and it has an actual battery holder! It is also very bright and the IR sensor works OK. Seal the solar panel and it should be OK.
