A small metal container with a flat bottom side, no 'feet'. Perfect to use with some double-sided tape to fix it on the transformer of the solering iron. Note that the container is what it is all about. The steel wire can be purchased at your local shop as a cleaning pad for cooking pans or the BBQ. (a copper coating is not required but it should be stainless steel type). For proper maintenance of your soldering tip; Wipe it clean and then add some fresh solder to the tip, especially if you are going to switch the soldering iron off. So store with a tin droplet at the tip, its prevents oxidation of the tip itself. To al those still using a sponge... buy this cleaner. No thermal shocks to the tip, thus improves its longevity, and much better cleaning!!!

txtimer I totally agree. The brass ball is infinitely superior to the steel one offered elsewhere from this seller. Do not buy the steel, it is terrible. Buy this and you will be very happy.
