I needed these pumps for an automated irrigation project. They work well, very sturdy I opened them up it's just a regular pump with a plastic propeller inside. You can submerge the whole thing in water in fact that is when it works best. As you can see from the picture this is not a peristaltic pump so it will have back flow if the pump is off (this is why I mount it below the flowers I'm irrigating. Should also be great for aquariums or small fountains. They work on 12 Volts but will pump at 9V already.
