In my opinion this would have been a superb clamp had it not been let down at the design stage. The overriding problem with this device involves the simple issue of the underside of the clamp end cap not being parallel with the underside of the clamp body. In fact it sits at least 4 mm higher. This 4 mm gap is what is facilitating the unwanted up and down rocking motion about it's pivot point. In use, when force is exerted against the clamping face, the pivoting causes the tail end of the device to pivot down and consequently the clamping face to lift up and so to the workpiece being clamped. I feel pretty certain that if the underside of this end cap was made to align with the underside of the clamp body, it would go a very long way to minimise tendency of the device to tilt backwards when the clamping forces are applied. In my opinion this small alteration would undoubtedly make it the clamp it should have been. Fortunately for the consumers who have already purchased this clamp the tilting issue is very easily resolved by attaching a 4-5mm spacer to the underside of the tail end cap which prevents the jaw end of clamp from being tilted upwards by the basic mechanics of pivoting. With this in mind, and with the simple alteration I have made, I am now of the opinion that these New surface clamps are indeed a true and worthy rival to the Bessey clamp. In short, the manufacturing quality of this clamp is superb and IMO is well worth the minor adjustment that is needed to make it better.

BG571117144 After double checking it appears my initial quote of "at least 4mm" is perhaps a slight over estimation. However it is at least 2mm. Please accept my apologies.
