Q: what Esc is recommended for this kit?

Qherbs if you want to add a two speed transmission and upgrade motor I would use an esc that is at least a third stronger than what you need. this way it will last. I also suggest a better pinion gear because the stock one is soft and has no bushings.

Qherbs it is splash proof but not submersible.

Qherbs this will work nicely. the drag brake is a little stiff and the longevity is questionable. I buy them two at a time because sometimes they don't last. but this is a great product for wpl.

Qherbs travel is 25mm and compressed length is 42mm.

Qherbs this kit does not include any electronic parts except the servo and it has plastic gears.

Q: can the rear deferential be locked.

Headlessagain If the differential can be disassembled then it's possible to lock in a couple of ways. A reversible method is to pack the diff gears with Blu-tac and the permanent would be using 2 part epoxy glue ()after cleaning any grease from the components)
