This RGB lighting unit is good value for the price and it certainly works but there are some minor negative points, depending on what you intend to use if for. The construction is fair quality. The housing is made from 0.6mm / 1/32" pressed steel that has been either sprayed or powder coated white. The electronics, including the remote control detector (see below) and LEDs are all contained within a thin polycarbonate lens unit that is screwed to the front of the metal housing. This is sealed on with a silicone seal. The screws and nut for adjusting the bracket appear to be zinc passivated rather than stainless. Therefore I think the construction is fair quality but maybe not all that durable in the long term as it may rust if exposed to water. However it should be fine for outdoor use in a covered area. I don't think I would expect it to last very long if exposed to rain. (This was not relevant for me as I am looking for indoor use.) You should be aware that the stated lumens is clearly at WHITE colour, that is with all LEDs turned on. If you select say, RED, only one third of the LEDs will turn on (the red ones) and the lumens will be correspondingly reduced. The minor negative that I would like to mention is with the control of the unit. The control with the included remote control is very temperamental. At some angles the detector does not receive the signal from the remote well, as the detector is on the front inside the polycarbonate lens unit. Whenever you turn the light on it comes on in flashing mode. It would be better if it remembered your previous setting but it does not. Also, when you select certain colours, the control will 'jam' and you then have to press a few times and turn it off and on before it responds again. Overall I give this item a fair rating as certainly it is good value for the money and a similar unit purchased in my country would be many times the price. The control aspect is a problem for me.
