mzperxcalling there is a problem with the original drive: speed of the original drive: /dev/sda: Timing O_DIRECT disk reads: 150 MB in 3.03 seconds = 49.53 MB/sec speed of a secondary drive I added: sudo hdparm -t --direct /dev/sdb /dev/sdb: Timing O_DIRECT disk reads: 1468 MB in 3.00 seconds = 489.13 MB/sec as a comparison, the speed of an USB drive in the same device: /dev/sdc: Timing O_DIRECT disk reads: 426 MB in 3.00 seconds = 141.89 MB/sec
mzperxcalling In the end, I had to rebuild the home network to make it fit. The trick: do not mix nodes with global firmware and nodes with Chinese firmware: even if they seem to be working well with each other, they work better if only on or the other type of firmware you have. e.g. the new AX3000 nodes work well together with the old AX1800 nodes but only if both have either global or Chinese firmware. (and the maximum number of nodes supported? currently: 4)
