I have bought 3 of these Convoy C8's gifted one to my son. He wanted the grey one. This one has the 3/5 mode driver, with the blink on low mode to switch between 3 and 5 modes. I don't really like the blink on low mode but I knew how it was when I bought it. This light throws a great deal and is used mainly on High mode or Medium anyway. If you have 18650 cells likes I recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality light.

I ordered 3 of them with the XM-L2 T6 4C option the first was ordered with op reflector as the smooth reflector with that binning was sold out. They all work perfectly fine and deliver a good amout of light. It has enough spill to illuminate everyhing close and a throw that offers quite some distance. Runtime with a Samsung SDI 35E is good, more than an hour on high. takes unprotected and protected batteries gets warm if you use it on high for a long time but that's ok at this power might be a little to bright on high in snowy conditions but I didn't have a chance to test it yet I'd love to have a version with exension tube and a Cree XHP 50 or 70 instead of the XM-L

Stock performance is as expected, I measured 2,73A at the tail cap on high using a freshly charged, unprotected PF cell. Anodizing is good, could not detect any imperfections on my sample. The color is sort of off-gray with a slight color tint depending on ambient light, which you can see in the BG pictures if you look close. The deep reflector certainly makes this a thrower, in particular after de-doming the LED which was very easy with a bit of acetone. Integrated shelf instead of pill supports better heat dissipation but also may create problems if you plan to swap out the aluminum LED star for a noctigon which is thinner and will cause a loose reflector. Also, the reflector centering ring could allow the led to sit deeper in the reflector. As is, focus is acceptable but not perfect. Overall, I'm happy with value for money.
