I guess I wasn't aware that high-drain variants of 18650 cells were even available. After reading of someone else's success using them in RC planes I gave these a try. I soldered two in series to get the needed voltage and added the appropriate connectors. Testing these on my hobby bench I found out that they do in fact deliver high current and have excellent capacity for their weight. Running these cells no lower than 2.8V they reach a total capacity of just under 2200mAH. In my application they delivered almost 9A of current initially at full throttle and ran for more than half an hour. Can't complain with that result and am now thinking of other packs I might want to build.
